Statim Cassette
Autoclave Proper Maintenance
Always Use Steam Water in the Statim Cassette Autoclave -
The electronic readout will tell you when to fill. If purchased
distilled water is used, it is recommended that a water conductivity
tester be used to check for impurities. Call your authorized SciCan
dealer and ask for part # ST-003. Deionized, demineralized or
specially filtered waters, rust inhibitors, or other additives
should NOT be used, as they will cause damage to the boiler, requiring
costly repairs and will void the warranty.
Clean and Rinse all Instruments Before Autoclaving -
Statim components are sensitive to solid debris, which if left
in the cassette may clog the exhaust valve and result in a service
call.
Clean the Interior of the Cassette -
At least once a week, the inside surfaces of the cassette should
be cleaned with automatic dishwashing detergent. After cleaning
the cassette, coating the inside of the cassette with STAT-DRI
drying agent will help maintain a clean, hydrophilic surface.
This will also increase the efficiency of the drying cycle.
Lubrication -
Lubricate the Cassette seal with liquid soap after cleaning the
cassette will help maintain the seal throughout its normal life.
In a busy practice, lubricating twice weekly will extend will
extend the seal life. Should steam leak out of the front of the
Statim, or a small puddle of water appears under the Statim, check
the cassette seal. If necessary, the seal may simply be restored
by verifying the gasket alignment, lubricating the seal and probe
holes in the gasket with liquid hand soap, and cleaning the outside
edge of the tray. If a leak persists, the seal may need to be
replaced, which is easily done. Please refer to the manual.
Discharge Bottle -
Maintain the Water in the Discharge Bottle between the minimum
/ maximum points indicated. Adding a few tablespoons of cold sterilization
solution will render the liquid harmless.
Do Not Leave Water in the Reservoir for Extended Periods of
Time When Not Using.
Empty the distilled water reservoir on a periodic basis (recommended
weekly) using the drain hose beneath the Statim 5000.
Should the Electronic Readout Display "Not Sterile"
immediately note the "error" code message on the display.
Notifying your dealer or SciCan with the complete message including
this number will assist in a solution.
Please Refer to Your Statim Operators Manual or the SciCan
website for further information.
